Jimmie D. Knight, 77
ALAMOSA Longtime Alamosa, Colo. resident Jimmie D. Knight, 77, died March 11, 2009 at the Hildebrand Care Center in Canon City, Colo.Jimmie was born June 6, 1931 in Manassa, Colo. to John A. and Vivian E. (DePriest) Knight.
Jimmie honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1954. In his earlier years he worked as a fireman for the railroad, was a farmer for a time, and owned and operated several business including the Waverly Store, Ye Olde Print Shoppe, and most recently Jims Trophies in Alamosa.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his family hunting, camping, and fishing. One of his favorite pastimes was socializing with friends and neighbors.
Jimmie is survived by his children Janice (Bill Whiting) Parker-Knight of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jeffery Knight of Alamosa, Jay (Dianne) Knight of Alamosa, Judy (Joe) Donnelly of Colorado Springs and John (Cassandra) Knight of Bennett, Colo; the mother of his children Jeane Knight of Alamosa; his sisters Lorraine Knight, Jane Knight, Wilma Flores, Shirley Johnson and Jolene Dutton as well as 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
His parents, his son Jerry Knight, his brother Samuel Knight and his grandsons Marshall Berry and Todd Parker all preceded him in death.
A visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Fri., March 13, 2009 and a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sat., March 14, 2009 both at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa.Interment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice in Jimmies memory and may be made at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa who is in care of the arrangements.
